There is a new park in Monmouth County that looks awesome! It’s huge, and it’s purpose is to be a park for everyone to enjoy.

From the APP.com article from Sunday 11/8/09.

Tony’s Place includes two sections, one aimed at 2- to 5-year-olds, the other at 5- to 12-year-olds, said Rich Pillar, the park system’s chief landscape architect and the playground designer. The playground includes swing sets, spinning chairs, playhouses, slides, a tic-tac-toe game and a climb-on pirate’s ship that has a wheelchair ramp.

Tony’s Place, which sits just on the other side of a dune from the ocean, has a nautical look. The rubberized ground surface in blue, tan and green represents the water, sand and vegetation, Pillar said. Sculptured animals — a seal and porpoise — are there for kids to look at and climb on.

Tony’s Place cost about $700,000, including the yet-to-be-installed gazebo, Pillar said. The financing breakdown, according to Pillar, is about $550,000 from the Monmouth County Park System; $140,000 from Challenged Youth Sports, a local nonprofit program for disabled children; and $10,000 from the Friends of the Parks, a private group supporting the system.

The park is at Seven President’s Oceanfront Park, Long Branch.
